The ideal all-arounder for changing conditions and day-to-day wear alike, the Dasche L3 Jacket does it all with a fraction of the bulk. Carefully mapped insulation and a tough, stretchy softshell combines the targeted warmth of a vest with the coverage and protection of a jacket. Featherweight materials keep you moving with ease, and the entire jacket can be swiftly compressed into the left hand pocket for fast, compact storage.

Exceptional heat retention while on the move. Doubles as a mid and outer layer.

Mapped synthetic down focuses on key coverage spots to keep you warm without bulking you down.

Light, stretchy softshell and highly compressible down combine with a self-stowing pocket to make storage easy.

Ultralightweight and weather-resistant 20-denier construction combines ease of motion with reliable protection.

Efficiently mapped PrimaLoft® Gold Luxe™ insulation minimizes wasteful bulk and retains warmth even while wet. Woven engineered baffles ensure full loft and no popped stitches. Synthetic down crafted from 100% post-consumer recycled content keeps your adventure eco-friendly.
Woman wearing the Dasche L3 Jacket while hiking in a mountain range.

20-denier softshell over the insulation partners with a durable water repellent (DWR) coating and ultralight 4-way stretch at the forearms, underarms, and sides to balance protection and dexterity. The hood offers a crown cinch for a just-right fit, and features a unique stow design that avoids the bulk of roll-up storage or the hassle of tracking a detachable hood.

Zippered on-seam hand pockets provide secure, low-profile storage. An oversized pocket and passport pocket on the inside feature power mesh construction for venting and fast drying. Stow the entire jacket in a jiffy via the zippered pouch in the left hand pocket to save space when not in use.

Good fit for athletic builds

I buy warm clothes in spring for next winter. It's May, so I can't testify to this jacket's warmth. But I love its fit, which is perfect for my athletic frame. (12" drop between shoulders and waist.) I also like the hide-away hood, and the HUGE – but hidden – front pockets. Very happy with this off-season purchase.

Unicorn Jacket

The Dasche L3 is a niche jacket designed to do certain things extremely well. Those things are layer, breath, dump heat, and be extremely packable. It's use-case is very similar to that of the Patagonia Nano Air, but, it could be argued that the Dasche does those things better. The jacket is basically a vest with bicep insulation and wind blocking sleeves/hood. The hood is clumsy but layers like none other when stowed. The sleeves are thin but keep pressure down on the forearms when layering. There are pick-pocket proof pockets inside the hand warming pockets and the whole thing packs down surprisingly small.

TLDR: This jacket is amazing during high intensity activity or when used as a layer but dumps heat too quickly to be worn without a shell. In my opinion, it's more like a Level 2+ than a Level 3A but nothing else really comes close to what this jacket does.

Thanks Colt for such a thoughtful review!

I definitely agree that the Dasche is a great piece for heat management during active use.

One year later

I bought my Dasche L3 a year ago and still love it. Love the fit, mobility, and style. The lightweight non-restrictive material on the sleeves is excellent for adding just enough coverage over t-shirts. The material is wind blocking enough for my hikes and running around with errands. My only regret is that I had not been bold enough to order a color instead of black!

Good…but the hood.

I found the fit and finish very good. Sized true to fit to maybe a bit large. I like this jacket, except the hood. The hybrid insulation pattern is on point. But, that stow away hood is awful. When stowed it creates a bulky, messy collar. Deployed its ok, so why not just make it a hoodie? Or I’d prefer it without a hood as an under layer. My 2 cents. I’d buy this jacket 100% if the hood was removed, as is I’d pass.
