Bought the A-5D before a field training exercise and they arrived just in time. They were worn for 3 days and two nights in conjunction with the lower level layers while being subjected to feels like -20 degree temps and they were fantastic. The A-5Ds took all of the bite out of the wind and stayed pretty dry, even when kneeling in snow for extended periods of time. Was wading through a few inches of snow and a lot of thick brush. Held up fantastic over the duration of the FTX and I was very thankful to have them. I did realize that I needed the A5 jacket, so now I’ll be looking at getting that…

Overall, the pants are well worth the money. They are clearly very well made, the stitching is good and they are reinforced in the important spots. The pants are a durable material that is abrasion resistant, and they take the bite out of the wind almost as a wind layer while also having the insulating properties of a level 5. I would easily spend the money again on these pants. They also work incredibly well in conjunction with other layers and also work pretty good on their own, depending on the weather and environment you find yourself operating in. A great pant that I am thoroughly impressed with. Convinced some buddies to buy these also as a couple tried mine on and were impressed with it. If you’re on the fence about a level 5 pant, get these, you won’t regret it.
