My Favorite Beyond Garment

Bought this shirt while on deployment in the Middle East. I ended up wearing it about 75% of the time during the winter. It was the perfect layer for the cold, windy conditions while wearing body armor on patrols. The sleeves cut the wind well, and the body being the grid fleece we know and love was the perfect weight when paired with an issued silk top. I had times when I used it as a mid layer when the temperatures were in the 40s and 30s.

The overall construction was great, no complaints there. Fitment was near perfect for me, not baggy but loose enough to get an issued waffle top underneath for really cold days. The sleeves were a bit long but that wasn't an issue. The small details make this top a joy to wear. The pocket zips open and close smoothly, and the Velcro cuffs are a welcome addition. I have no discomfort when wearing the neck unzipped all the way and the zipper is underneath my kit. I managed to grab one on a steep sale, after how much use I got out of it I wish I bought two. Thankfully it has plenty of life left in it, the only wear is some minor pilling on the body.

Legit

This thing is legit. It’s really warm, cuts down on bulk and layers well. The entire thing is lined in fuzzy material and can easily be worn with no base layer in more moderate temps. The material on the arms does a good job at cutting the wind too. Because of that feature, the sleeves don’t articulate as well as a normal combat shirt, but why would it when it’s thicker and warmer.

Overall, on of my favorite all areas pieces of cold gear.

Warm, works great

XL fit me well. I'm 5'7" athletic 190lbs. Sleeves a tad long but this is a great go between for cooler weather. 10 out 10 I'd recommend 👌
