Highly Technical, Absurdly Comfortable
The Kyros edition of the A5 - Stretch Alpha Sweater, the Aptus Hybrid Softshell K5 Jacket delivers the best of both worlds by combining light, stretchy, and comfy construction with long-lasting durability and heat-packing insulation. Dynamic three-layer construction wicks up moisture and transports it out while hanging onto warmth, and the wind- and water-resistant softshell pairs with an insulated, adjustable hood to ward off nasty weather.

1st Layer Wicks
Double-knit Verso Weave™ fleece provides a blanket-soft feel and uses a circular grid pattern to create air channels, keeping you dry by funneling sweat up to the second layer.
2nd Layer Insulates
Polartec® Alpha® Insulation takes the hot sweat sent up from the first layer and then hangs onto the heat to keep you toasty while kicking the moisture up to the third layer.
3rd Layer Protects
The third and outermost layer uses a durable water repellent (DWR) finish to seal out freshly shed sweat and light rainfall, and features a durable softshell design with 4-way stretch to ward off winds and keep you mobile.
Stretchy, adjustable, and designed to go over climbing helmets, the hood ensures versatile fitting options when you need extra insulation and weather protection.

Great quality jacket. Handles rain and snow without issue. I’ve worn it from about 20-60 without any issues.
I'm blown away by the great feel of the jacket on all the fabrics inside and out. The stretch of the outer shell and lighter weight material make for an easy wearing and highly flexible garment that feels more like a fitted sweatshirt than a jacket. The DWR is very good and has been tested a few times with rather heavy rain, I even wore it for about 8 hours in a steady drizzle and the water was running off with no wetting out, that's better than my GTX rain jacket! It's also a total beast in windy conditions acting like a brick wall of protection. The hood is also like its own mini shield sealing you off from the elements and really keeping you warm and protected. I also like how the hood is a tighter fit and moves fluidly with your head, by far the best hood of any jacket. Temperature rating is spot on, 50 with a t-shirt is perfect and with a level 1 and 2 under I have easily been down to 30 degrees with light to moderate activity. Impressive warmth for something that's hardly a 1/4in thick.
It has replaced my puffy and heavy fleece mid layers and with its breathability that should win awards it sits at home under heavy thermal jackets adding to the warmth factor and allowing you to be comfortable in extreme conditions. It is a more fitted layer and a k1 and k2 under is about all it's really built for (5'11" 190lb wearing a size Large) but I have found it to be perfect and plenty warm. The fit is perfect but I do want to try a long next time, I feel I'm at the height where it starts to feel like it could be an inch longer at the hips, at times.
Always have a hard time finding clothes that fit well on a tall athletic body type (6’4” 230 lbs broad shoulders small waist) . Large long ended up being a perfect fit. The weight of the materials are perfect for the PNW climate.
Really like the jacket, but it’s missing a draw cord on the hem. In cold windy conditions not being able to tighten the hem is a dealbreaker. Still a really nice jacket, but could be better.
I purchased the XXL and fits nicely with me.
Pockets are large and well positioned. Perfectly comfortable during the winter-spring transitional period as my location experienced 30-40 degrees with high winds.
