Needs work.

This coat is nice. But it needs work. The bicep pocket is stiff and useless. The zipper pulls all need to be more pliable and could stand to be smaller for pack ability. The hood needs a rigid flexible plastic instert.
The cuffs need lightweight dedicated rubber adjusters
Get rid of the heavy and overbuilt side zips and just add pit zips made with lighter weight more flexible rubber. Infact replace all zips with lighter weight more flexible rubber. And lastly drop the proprietary membrane all together and just make it GORE-TEX. Charge one to two hundred more and call it a day. Those changes- while many- would make this an industry leading jacket. Even with the price increase it would sell like hotcakes. You can also make all of those changes and use your proprietary membrane and you would still have a jacket that is extremely lightweight, packable, flexible, durable and more versatile. Also get rid of the damn elastic on the hem entirely. It’s completely useless.

Outstanding Rain Shell

This jacket turned out to be both completely waterproof as well as scratch resistant.
Very happy with its performance so far. Might have to grab a pair of the pants next.

Great Waterproof hardshell but could use a few more tweaks

First and foremost this jacket will make a great waterproof rain shell for those looking to stay dry in even the wetest outdoor conditions. The material is thick w/out being too stiff and it doesn't make a ton of noise like most goretex rain shells do. All the seams are taped and zippers are waterproof to keep items inside bone dry. The jacket also is durable and would have no issue avoiding snags and tears hiking through deep brush or scraping up against rough terrain. I really wanted to like this jacket, however the overall fit/sizing was a miss for me. Beyond states this jacket features an "expedition" fit which means its generally a looser cut and meant to be worn on top of other layers, a fact I find true and really appreciate about Beyond's clothing line. However when putting on the jacket I found the roomieness to be limited to the chest and sleeves (and hood), however from the chest down the jacket still has a bit more of an athletic/tapered cut and noticed its to be a little more form fitting as it got closer to the hem. Now for those cut like Rudy Reyes this isn't an issue... however if your like me and transitioned from the field to a desk job and settled down with family, you might find the torso/trunk section of the jacket to be a little more form fitting. I will say though that I did appreciate the additional touches on the side zipper for venting as well as the extra button closure at the bottom to keep the jacket form flying open when you open up the vents. However., the fit of the torso/trunk isn't where I have issue, its more in the shoulders and sleeves which my arms are swimming in. Additionally the zippered pocket on the right sleeve is ackwardly placed, so much that I thought i was a pit zip. Not sure if that was for additional assurance that the contents in the pocket would stay dry... but the additional taping to keep the zipper/pocket dry and waterproof make the right sleeve a little stiffer compared the left and is noticable to the point of annoying. To say I was dissappointed is an understatement and i unfortunately returned the jacket, but will be keeping my fingers crossed that Beyond makes some changes in the next go around b/c the overall construction alone gives you confidence that it will hold up in the wetest conditions. Still a great jacket that is guaranteed to keep you dry, just not the best fit for all body types...

ARX 2.0 L6 Rain Jacket

I purchased this jacket to deal with the year round wind and springtime rains in Montana. With the wet spring we’ve been experiencing, the jacket is working flawlessly. Keeps me perfectly dry and, unless I’m exerting myself pretty hard, does not get clammy. For 6’7”, 230lbs me the XL-Long is just an incredible fit. The sleeves are plenty long to where they don’t slide up my arms when I hold them straight out. Velcro adjustments at the end of the sleeves means they can tightened down to minimize water coming in or loosened for easier on off. Waterproof side zippers just add to the convenience. All the zippers are sealed and work great. The overall fit of the jacket allows for layering but doesn’t billow when worn with base layers. It also covers down to my upper thighs, a huge plus in my book. The hood can be adjusted to fit over a ball cap or expanded to work with hearing pro which I use often in my work. Overall a fantastic piece of kit, particularly for a tall person.

ARX Rain Jacket

Originally ordered a large, which was far too big, even considering layers underneath. Returned it for a Medium which fits well and works great.
