Superb pants. I grabbed a pair of 36” woodland camo for my outdoor activities and they really have been fantastic. Solid build material, deep shaded tones that have stayed dark even after ~10 washes.
The crotch build is fantastic. If you blow out a seam, then you either have done something wrong or have an epic story to tell. Given Beyond’s pricing, these are the only and best units with the gusseted design that aren’t Crye’s level of wallet tears.
Overall fit is great. These are not stretch pants, so what waist you buy is the waist you get. If anything, its a motivator for me to stay within a certain activity so I am not constantly moving from needing/not needing a belt.
Pockets are durable, the front ones have a great dual seam build. It really keeps the pockets from getting too stretched out and also help keep clipped things (knives, etc) from sliding up. The single button pocket is a great feature for a phone or two. Its got some beef to it, and I could probably fit two glock mags in it if I tried hard enough. A little lower on the thigh than expected, but I am used to 5.11’s set up which is set far higher coz they don’t have the dual seam design.
The only negative is the rear pockets. Overrall they are the same build quality. They are set a little further inwards than I expected. I usually wear 5.11 Strykers for work and I got used to the rear pockets being big and also set further on the side of the buttocks. With the L5s, you definitely don’t want to throw anything in them too bulky. That is, unless you like lower back problems.
Despite that minor issue (which can be easily remedied with later updates if Beyond wants to..wink,wink) cannot recommend these enough. After I get myself climbing with them I’ll be sure to put an updated review.
