As the weather has warmed this spring, I transitioned from my Rig Softshell to a light fleece on my morning hikes with my dog. Then, though it wasn’t yet “t-shirt weather”, the fleece became too warm for me and I was stuck! So, I decided to give the Ventum Ultralight Hoodie a try. It really is great! It fits great and is a thin layer that cuts the wind yet breathes! It’s perfect by itself and for layering. It also can be stuffed into its built in stuff sack to throw in a pack. As a bonus, I found myself wearing it out on a drizzly day and it kept me bone dry! It’s such a great jacket that I ordered another to give to my dad for Father’s Day!! Another GREAT Beyond Product!!!! Thanks!
Piece is not as ultralight as the title suggests. it is in between a softshell and a true ultralight. its super comfortable and stretchy. As other reviewers have noted, the lack of arm/wrist velcro or other closures is puzzling, hence the 4 stars. Water resistant and windproof as advertised. I ordered a Medium and am 6'1" and 160lbs, fit was good, not super tight and also not too baggy. length was just below waist. Can layer underneath if needed.
My Arc'teryx Squamish hoody met an unfortunate fate this week. Even though I loved the weight of it there were no front pockets. That aspect bugged me. Having purchased the A6 rain jacket I expected the K4 to meet and exceed my expectations. It did. Solid build. Quickly becoming my go-to brand! Thanks!
There's a lot going on here for such a simple and lighweight hoodie. For example, the slightly longer, but not noticeable until needed, tail section that allows for you to cover your rear end when it gets especially chilly.
I haven't used it long enough yet to determine if drawstrings should have been incorporated into the hoodie.
Fit is true to size & I love that it packs down into it's own storage pocket for easily slipping it into a pack.
